Jury Convicts Former GOP Connecticut Governor In Campaign Finance Scheme
John G. Rowland, a three-term Republican governor of Connecticut who resigned in 2004 amid corruption charges, has been convicted by a jury of crimes in a campaign finance scheme.
According to court documents,Lisa Wilson-Foley, a Republican candidate, and her husband hired Rowland as a campaign consultant from September 2011 through April 2012, but funneled his payments, totaling $35,000, through Mr. Foley’s nursing home, Apple Rehab, and affiliated entities, to avoid reporting them on federal regulatory filings and to conceal from voters the involvement of Mr. Rowland, according to the New York Times.
[su_center_ad]Rowland decided on Thursday not to testify at his federal conspiracy trial.
On Wednesday, the defense rested after its only witness finished his testimony.
Brian Bedard, the executive vice president of Apple Health Care, testified that Rowland did legitimate consulting work for the nursing home company and he did not believe his contract was a sham, according to ABC.
The Associated Press reports, “Rowland was convicted in New Haven federal court of all seven counts, including conspiracy, falsifying records in a federal investigation, causing false statements to be made to the Federal Election Commission and causing illegal campaign contributions.”
Rowland became a popular radio talk show host and previously landed a job as an economic development coordinator when he was released from prison in 2006 after serving 10 months on a corruption-related charge.
In April, Rowland resigned from his morning radio show, saying he had to “take care of some personal issues.”
Convictions on all the charges carried a possible maximum prison sentence of 57 years, according to the AP.

Corruption, corruption, corruption! That’s all you hear about Republicans! Is there not one honest, moral person in this party?

Meanwhile, the rank and file Republicans obsess over the Benghazi and IRS manufactured controversies and never have time to comment on these stories of corruption.

Why should they – this story and many others on GOP corruption don’t show up on Fox News, Breitbart.com, Stormfront or any of their “fair and balanced” news outlets.

He didn’t learn from his previous crimes? Well, less see if this time, they will give him a even 2 years, if that much. He had a chance to start over but blew it.

I don’t care what party the party affiliation of those convicted of such crimes is, they need to do HARD time…throw them in maximum security.

Note to sentencing judge:
repeating felons usually receive a longer sentence than the ‘minimum’ required.
especially if it endangers the life of the elderly who are at risk when the cooked books show them receiving more care than they actually are. (like heat for 24 minutes a day in winter instead of 24 hours).
