Phyllis Schlafly: Obama Wants Ebola In America To Make Us More Like Africa
[su_right_ad]Eagle Forum founder Phyllis Schlafly believes President Obama welcomes Ebola to America.
“There are all kinds of diseases in the rest of the world, and we don’t want them in this country,” Schlafly said. “And it’s Obama’s job to keep them out.
“Out of all the things he’s done, I think this thing of letting these diseased people into this country to infect our own people is just the most outrageous of all.”
Then why did Ronald Reagan allow AIDS in? But I digress.
When asked why the current administration hasn’t done more to prevent diseased illegal aliens or Ebola carriers from Africa from entering the country, Schlafly said Obama wants to make the U.S. more like the rest of the world.
“Obama doesn’t want America to believe that we’re exceptional,” Schlafly said. “He wants us to be just like everybody else, and if Africa is suffering from Ebola, we ought to join the group and be suffering from it, too. That’s his attitude.”[su_csky_ad]

It’s amazing that they continue to give this crazy, vindictive and hateful woman a platform. Pat Robertson, too. You’d think that they’d be embarrassed.

Perhaps you are too young to remember who this woman is. She is not unintelligent, and at ninety I believe she knows exactly what she is saying.
She has always been the ideal ‘moral conservative’ woman, the one who’s got hers and will kick anyone else who wants to help others get the same.
Here’s an overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phyllis_Schlafly
You can always check out her writing if you want to be ill.

Yes, but she was a beauty queen, not a lawyer, and her crusade was focused on denying rights to gays and defending family values (until the breakup of her marriage made her more sympathetic to the plight of divorcées). Together they did cause a lot of grief to the women’s movement, though.

tiredoftea October 11th, 2014 at 3:35 pm
I know her work and she has been consistent in her venom since she first popped out of the pus filled extreme fringe right almost forty years ago. You’re right, she is the “ideal ‘moral conservative’ woman” who spews her intolerance and hatred for anyone other than white women who prefer to be subjugated to their equally intolerant and hate filled men.
M D Reese October 9th, 2014 at 8:45 pm
Ronald Reagan ignored AIDS for years since it was perceived to be just killing gay men and black men. It started in the straight community in Africa.
veggiedude October 10th, 2014 at 1:17 am
…as a result of eating bush meat. Same is true of Ebola. No one wants to talk about it because bush meat is suppose to be in our evolutionary background. If it ever was to the degree it is today, we would never have survived as a species.
greenfloyd October 10th, 2014 at 2:25 am
With population growth, habitat destruction, hunting and traping the outlook for wild primates – bush meat – is bleak, at best.
The big difference between HIV and Ebola is the W.H.O. has over 40 years experience fighting it and we understand the science better now. Although as we can all see, we’re certainly not masters of this ancient pestilence.
M D Reese October 10th, 2014 at 5:42 pm
There are a lot of places right here in America where things such as squirrel brains are considered a delicacy…
greenfloyd October 10th, 2014 at 1:35 am
Exactly! And by the time American public health bureaucracy got up to speed HIV had already entered the blood supply and distributed to hospitals around the country. Thus jumping and infecting whole new groups of people.
Unlike Schlafly I have no interest in needlessly scaring anybody about Ebola. I certainly do not blame Obama and praise his leadership along with bold actions to help fight this horrible virus in West Africa.
However, I disagree about allowing non-essential travel to continue. It’s an unnecessary risk and drains resources. I understand the administration needs to be concerned about the political stability of the effected nations. Yet that concern comes from the mistaken notion that a travel ban would not allow aid to flow. That’s absurd. But not as absurd as suggesting a travel ban would violate American citizens’ “right” to break the WHO Ebola quarantine.
One thing is for sure, there’s nothing simple or pretty about Ebola.
M D Reese October 10th, 2014 at 5:30 pm
I seem to recall that Elizabeth Dole was heading the Red Cross when they were knowingly using blood that could have been tainted with HIV.
I really hope that they can keep a handle on Ebola–It looks like there will be a big push. I also wonder if the religious “aid” groups in Africa have been neglecting to suggest condom use as they did (and still do) with potential AIDS victims… And sadly, people are infected with Ebola while trying to do the most human thing of all, which is to help those that are suffering.
forpeace October 9th, 2014 at 8:57 pm
Yes, Phyllis, President Obama wants Ebola in America to make us more like Africa, be careful when you take your medication because President Obama also injected the virus into your daily pills!
This is all you need to know about Phyllis Schlafly:
Phyllis McAlpin Stewart Schlafly is the founder of Eagle Forum which is a socially conservative and anti-feminist group. Schlafly became an outspoken opponent of the “Equal Rights Amendment” during the 1970s as the organizer of the “STOP ERA” campaign.
The Eagle Forum Education and Legal Defense Fund was organized in 1981 as a non-profit wing of Eagle Forum. It is a tax deductible charity under Internal Revenue Service (IRS) code. The Eagle Forum PAC began receiving donations in 1993, and has served as a source for candidate endorsements from the Eagle Forum and has donated money to various candidates that the organization “People for the American Way” has described as “right-wing”.
The organization is opposed to the legalization of abortion, against international oversight from the United Nations or the International Criminal Court, supportive of English-only education in schools, supportive of women’s role as “fulltime homemakers”, and opposed to same-sex marriage.

Greetings, Peace. You are quite right. Let me take her history back a little further. As I posted above:
“At the 1960 Republican National Convention, Schlafly helped lead a revolt of “moral conservatives” against Richard Nixon’s stance (as the New York Times puts it) “against segregation and discrimination.””(Wiki)
I was too young to vote in 1960, but I was already aware of what was happening. Yes, she was against the Civil RIghts Act and she was against the Equal RIghts Amendment. She is the epitome of the Republicans’ ideal woman.

Hey, rg! Nor was it good.
She was a very early supporter of what has turned out to be the sand in the gears of our nation’s engine. Making decisions based on religion, morality, and emotional opinion instead of empirical evidence has polarized politics to the point where it is now nearly impossible for the two parties to reach compromise, or even to find common ground, without having a mob swarm in from the right, waving pitchforks.

Thanks to the loss of the Fairness Doctrine, among many other factors. Let’s see, the buyout of the media all along the spectrum, the collapse of journalistic standards, Fox’s decision to deal in entertainment rather than news – the list is long.
We’re in a state of transition now, with print media shrinking and dying, while the internet is still not filling the gap as well as it might. I hope the care and professionalism will come, but at least many choices are at our fingertips.

As long as some of the most prominent people in conservative America keep spewing sh*t like this, I don’t want to hear any self-serving whining about conservatives being accused of racism.
Garbage like this is unfair and as long as it continues, I could care less if some right winger gets his poor little fee-fees hurt by accusations of racial prejudice.
Right wingers if you are tired of accusations against you that you consider bogus, then clean up your own side of the road first before presuming to lecture liberals about what is and is not valid criticism of the President.

ONE person has been diagnosed here, and he didn’t show symptoms until after he was here.

When the tea-potty pinheads took over the house in 2011,they immediately slashed everything. The CDC budget in 2010 was $6.467 billion in 2011 it was slashed by $760 million. If the CDC budget stayed at the 2010 level the past 5 years, there would have been $3.770 trillion additional dollars in funds available to combat Ebola. Just like the 100’s of millions the tea-potty tin foil hats cut from our overseas security of Embassies and consulates, only to claim that made no difference and that didn’t effect Benghazi.

There is nothing that RWNJ’s won’t use to smear President Obama, he’s allegedly anti-American, hates Christians and white people, wants to ruin the U.S. from within, etc. The RWNJ’s are the ones who aren’t the least bit patriotic, smearing a legally elected President and calling for his impeachment from almost day one! Do they really believe their actions will have no consequences for our country? They are the ones who are diminishing the reputation of our country around the world with their lies about President Obama. I can’t help but remember how our country rallied around the President and we were truly one nation after 9/11. Does anyone think that would have happened if PBO had been in office at the time? No! They are too focused on hating him and everything he does, manufacturing lies about him, the First Lady and even their children. They even stoop to trashing the President’s deceased parents and grandparents.
There is no lie too crazy, no story too outrageous, that these nutjobs won’t use in order to elevate the RW’ers and in their attempts to harm the President. They have obviously forgotten that karma is a bitch. I’d never lower myself to their level and speak about a GOP President in the same manner but history won’t be kind to them and will prove President Obama to have been one of our best Presidents ever, worthy of respect and admiration.

I sure hope not. They will control the Federal House for years to come, until Dems can retake state legislatures and fix the districting. I really hope the Dems don’t just redistrict in their favor the way that GOP has. I would love a long-term solution with a little balance and fairness in it.

You want to hear a story about how stupid conservatives are? Oh I know, there are so many of them aren’t there? An old friend of mine back in Michigan who I used to be able to have friendly political debates with, now hates my guts because I voted for Obama and he got audited by the IRS. He blames Obama and ME, and feels persecuted even though it’s his fault that he doesn’t know how in the hell to properly keep records and file his taxes. This ladies and gentlemen is a DISEASE on the level with Ebola.

Yes, Obama personally called out your friend for an audit.
I will say that our tax structure is overly complicated and (like so many other things) totally rigged against individuals and small businesses. And I would like Obama to change that. I’d also like a big bag of money.
