Massachusetts Dad Outraged That Son’s School Explains Islam
Anthony Giannino was furious that his son was learning about the Muslim faith in history class, and pulled his son out.

According to reports, Anthony Giannino was the first to become aware of the fact that his son was learning about Islam in school, and out of anger, he pulled his son out of the classroom. The thing he took issue with the most was that in the textbook that the class was using, the Muslim Call to Prayer was printed, stating, “I bear witness that there is no God but Allah.”
“We don’t believe in Allah. I don’t believe in my son learning about this here,” said Giannino. “If my son was from another country and came here, he would have been catered to. But where he’s not being catered to, they give him an F.”
Giannino made it clear that one of his biggest issues was that the line in the prayer was printed.
“No religion should be taught at school. In their paper it says Allah is their only God. That’s insulting to me as a Christian who believes in just Jesus only,” Giannino said. “They should also say to you, ‘in history, your son is going to learn about Islam,’ send out a letter.”
The superintendent of Revere Public Schools has since sent a letter to parents explaining that the only reason they’re teaching about religions is because it’s part of the history curriculum.
“I want to be very clear that no religion is taught with the purpose of converting students to that religion,” part of the letter reads.[su_csky_ad]

Possibly, but not necessarily. I went to high school a town over from his kid. In our 9th grade World History class we learned about all major religions according to their order of appearance. We never got the compare/contrast until 10th-11th grade, but we did learn evenly about each religion. It wasn’t until later classes that we examined them more deeply and went into their historic roles and how they affect today’s society.

I’m from East Boston, right next to Revere where he lives, and while I don’t know him personally I know many people who do. From what they say he’s a great guy, doesn’t seem ignorant at all. Unfortunately, things like religion, where strongly held beliefs are involved, can make the classiest, most articulate person turn into a bumbling imbecile. He probably got all up in arms before he even had all the facts. Just sad.

This man is against knowledge and instead embraces ignorance and fear. What is wrong with learning about history and reading the actual words of a prayer? Since he is a phony christian he refuses to even want a basic knowledge for his child or himself of what he fears and hates

One might ask the same about the authors of the Bible.

Read Saadat Hasan Manto’s “Letters to Uncle Sam” from the 1950’s where he is sarcastically warning us, and asking, “why not just arm the mullahs directly, “If this gang of mullahs is armed in the American style, the Soviet Union that hawks communism and socialism in our country will have to shut shop….”
Remember Pakistani President Benazir Bhutto, telling President George H. W. Bush, “You are creating a jihadi Frankenstein.”?
There is not a Muslim, Christian or Hindu Indian today who does not blame the rot in Pakistan on the US arming the religious zealots against India because they were friendly to US business as opposed to the Indian’s relationship with the USSR while carrying out Ghandi’s decree, “homespun cloth, only.”
All we have done over the past 70 years is slow down their road to the same reformation that Christianity went through, when THEY were perpetrating the violence.

I went to high school in the 60s. We had a course on comparative religions in either English or Social Studies. It was not a big deal. We learned about the various religions and creation myths of cultures all around the world. Frankly, I think they should start teaching it in grade school. Kids should not be allowed to grow up believing that everyone they meet believes just as they do. Why not enjoy the differences?

Yup–all that socialist GI bill money that let the returning vets buy homes, go to college, start a business–all that money we poured into building an efficient interstate highway system, schools, and so on. The highest tax brackets were about triple then because it was actually considered patriotic that those who benefited the most, should pay the most. I had a lot of hope when I was a teenager. Now it’s mostly dismay.

That’s how the TP conquered the system. I vote early now–it’s available 2 weeks before election day and it’s quick and painless. One reason I’m optimistic is that the clerk told me that they are getting a LOT more early voters than usual.

Allow me to post a comment from a unknown poster (I don’t even remember the web site), about the whiney liberals; (Although I know a lot of young people who don’t vote in mid terms because, “I just did that a year and a half ago”… and the issues aren’t out there like they are in presidential elections.
“There are, I am convinced, people within just about any movement who cherish defeat.
Defeat allows them to nurse a grudge, allows them to burnish their vanity and pride at their own pristine
moral righteousness, without any of the messy compromise and painful slogging through the trenches that actual victory brings.
We see this all the time when at activist meetings, where there is always some guy who wails loudly about the wicked immorality of the world, about the corruption of the movement all the while implying that they alone are the valiant pure soul who stand uncorrupted.
Of course, these same people can be counted on to
never man a phone bank, never walk a precinct, never send a donation.
They are the political equivalent of the 101st Chairborne, the chickenhawks who lustily declare war from their moms basement.
F*ck, I am as pissed at Obama for half a dozen things as well; but when I look at the political landscape he is head and shoulders above anyone else, and I am working my ass off doing everything in my power to get him re-elected.
