Culture Of Rape Doesn’t Exist On Campus Says Dennis Prager Campaigning For Rick Scott
[su_right_ad]Conservative talk show host Dennis Prager, at an event supporting Florida Governor Rick Scott, said sexual assault as a campus issue is a “big lie” invented by the “feminist left.”
At the Sarasota Hyatt, Prager began by calling the idea of a war on women “a gargantuan lie to get votes,” and then turned to his opinions on campus rape culture, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
“Did you ever look at what counts? An unwanted kiss is considered sexual assault. I’m stunned it’s only 1 in 5,” he said, according to the paper. “Four out of five women have not gotten an unwanted kiss?”
“My wife gets unwanted kisses every so often,” he added.
Prager said that the left, not the right, is insensitive to violence against women by “trivializing” the word rape.
“Culture of Rape? No. I’ll tell you why it exists on the campus, and that is: a rape of the culture,” Prager reportedly said.
The head of the Sarasota Republican Party, Joe Gruters, appeared to disapprove of Prager’s rant, telling the Herald-Tribune that campus sexual assault is a real problem.
“It should never have been part of a political discussion at the rally,” Gruters told the Florida newspaper.[su_r_sky_ad]

If you’ve never known or have ever had empathy for a rape victims, ignorance has a way of shutting down the whole truth.

“The head of the Sarasota Republican Party, Joe Gruters, appeared to disapprove of Prager’s rant, telling the Herald-Tribune that campus sexual assault is a real problem.” It’s good to read about one Republican who disapproves of the nonsense that Prager spouts.

Does he mean it doesn’t exist from his penis POV, or because racist call rape culture a black thing and those people are not part of Rick Scott’s regime??

“My wife gets unwanted kisses every so often,” he added.
Well maybe this ass needs to stop kissing his wife.

Prager is a science denier, and mocks everything that doesn’t originate in the far right extremist cesspool he resides in.

I don’t understand why attention is being specifically focused on campus rape. My daughter attended an inner city college. She walked the same streets and rode the same subways as thousands of other young women who were not college students. A would-be rapist doesn’t care whether a potential victim is a college student or a supermarket clerk. Don’t supermarket clerks deserve the same level of concern as college students? If the government is going to instruct colleges about rape prevention, then why not provide the same types of instructions to employers and landlords? Why the specific focus on colleges?

where and when is no attention or instructions given for ALL women to be safe. This issue is about the unchecked rape that is happening on campuses that allow the rapist to roam free

Okay, so what happens when:
1. The victim is a student but the rapist is not?
2. The rapist is a student but the victim is not?
3. The rape happens off-campus?
4. The rape happens on-campus, but neither the victim nor the rapist is a student?
In every case, a crime has been committed, so law enforcement should be notified. And once law enforcement is involved, what is there for the college administration to do? Sure, it makes sense for college administration to work on prevention. But it also makes sense for landlords and employers to work on prevention. I see no reason why any legislation should be tailored specifically for colleges.

what does not happen? I do not understand what you are upset about, this is about campus rape and how the schools deny and cover it up.
Robert M. Snyder October 31st, 2014 at 3:47 pm
As you know, CA just passed a law which enforces the concept of affirmative consent on college campuses. Prager apparently thinks that the definition of rape is too broad. I’m not going to argue that point. My question is whether it makes sense to make a law that addresses a specific illegal act (rape) in a specific place (college campuses). If a supermarket clerk is raped 100 feet outside the campus boundary, and a coed is raped 100 feet inside the campus boundary, why is the supermarket clerk less important in the eyes of the law?
tracey marie October 31st, 2014 at 3:49 pm
They are not, the campus law and awareness is done because of the higher rate of rape and sexual assault in the closed campus atmosphere. The colleges were ignoring and denying the attacks and not reporting it to the police. Many young women were kicked out of school for reporting or intimidated by having to face the rapists daily

rape is now an unwanted kiss and rape is something femanist invented and women are lying

Dennis Prager’s still alive? And people pay him to speak? Things are worse than I thought.

Dennis prager should be a advocate on why our government should be filled with elected statesmen
bpollen November 1st, 2014 at 11:58 pm
The ‘big lie’ isn’t the existence or severity of campus rape, it’s any denial of misogyny on Prager’s part…
