Farewell, 113! Don’t Let The Door Hit You
by Karolyn Roberts
Well if there’s one thing we learned about the Congressional process in the last two years, it’s how to meet deadlines. If you’re triskaidekaphobic, the 113th Congress probably validated your fear. Sequestration, debt ceiling, government shutdown–any of these terms ring a horrifying bell? Probably because in each of these news-worthy procrastinations, Congress showed us what it really means to wait ’til the last minute, allowing the media to fill our heads with stories of lost wages, crashing stock markets, and French tourists unable to visit the WWII Memorial in Washington, DC.

Instead of debating if 113 was “the worst congress ever” (a conclusion made by current Representatives, historians, political junkies, and some 8th graders visiting our nation’s capital), let’s agree to call them the scariest. Disregard the measly 165-ish bills they passed (versus the 900 in Truman’s ‘Do-Nothing Congress’), and their inability to perform the basic functions of the job.
This February, when the 114th Congress makes the news because 113 didn’t feel like funding the President’s executive order, I propose we reminisce about 113’s scare tactics and last minute bully-like negotiations; not how little they worked. You have until midnight to agree.[su_csky_ad]

I am hardly gonna celebrate, the next congress might make the last congress members look rational.

Can I have a hit?? Those loons will be back with reenforcements and the senate to boot
Suzanne McFly December 13th, 2014 at 12:15 pm
That is kind of what I am saying. Please re-read.

Still want a hit… been a long day
Suzanne McFly December 13th, 2014 at 3:51 pm
I understand, I had and have those days often and I am thankful for the opportunity to take a hit.

Been at it since 1 am EST

Poor thing, you need some sleep bud.

The worst of congress of all time, soon to be followed by the new worst congress of all time.
Politics in America is corrupt and broken. America needs election reform.
edmeyer_able December 13th, 2014 at 9:43 am
Yes it does and this CRomnibus bill is a step in the wrong direction. Shut the government down if certain provisions aren’t stripped from it.
Larry Schmitt December 13th, 2014 at 10:56 am
Problem is, the people who created the corrupt system are the ones who are supposed to fix it. What are the chances that will happen? Especially with the sharp turn to the right they have taken.
mea_mark December 13th, 2014 at 11:05 am
It may take the threat of revolution. I hope it won’t. We should be able to do it through the election process we have. The people need to demand election reform through the election process. It needs to be priority one since everything else seems to hinge on getting rid of the corruption.
Larry Schmitt December 13th, 2014 at 11:10 am
As you said, the system is broken, and money rules everything. What it needs is enough people willing to run who are as fed up with the way things are as we are. Where are those people?
fahvel December 13th, 2014 at 12:53 pm
sweet sentiment but how does one vote to vote better when the scum being voted for are always the same?
fahvel December 13th, 2014 at 12:51 pm
not election reform – but the establishment of something warmer and less pathetic than the honor of having more $ gives someone – global economy will be the death knell of the western society at the least and the disease that will ruin every one else.
MIAtheistGal December 13th, 2014 at 10:01 am
Worst congress ever. Which 114 will take as a challenge.
Dwendt44 December 13th, 2014 at 12:13 pm
And considering the make up of 114, it’s likely they will surpass the current congress.
Larry Schmitt December 13th, 2014 at 10:50 am
Better yet, let the door hit you. At least you’ll have something to remember from you unproductive time in office.
rg9rts December 13th, 2014 at 11:55 am
Take a good look at the present they left us..
fahvel December 13th, 2014 at 12:49 pm
hey voters – if it runs for public office it is a liar and cheat already – why the surprise? these people are not the essence of altruism – merely getting more welfare than the “low” classes.
