Bill de Blasio isn’t welcome at police funerals, says the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association. A letter they wrote reads:

I, _____________________, as a New York City police officer, request that Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito refrain from attending my funeral services in the event that I am killed in the line of duty. Due to Mayor de Blasio and Speaker Mark-Viverito’s consistent refusal to show police officers the support and respect they deserve, I believe that their attendance at the funeral of a fallen New York City police officer is an insult to that officer’s memory and sacrifice.

They object to the mayor having said he gave his black son “the talk” about the role of police in black people’s lives. Patrick Lynch, head of the PBA, says the mayor threw cops “under the bus.”[su_center_ad]

Scratching my head on how many people see this as an US vs THEM situation.

unfortunate yes. but, it was created by THEM.

I, Dave “Doctor” Gonzo, as a New York City resident, request that PBA boss Patrick Lynch refrain from encouraging cops to tell Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito whether or not they are permitted to attend funeral services in the event that they are killed in the line of duty. Due to PBA boss Patrick Lynch’s consistent refusal to understand that the mayor and speaker represent all of the citizens of New York City whenever they visit hospitalized officers or. in the worst case scenaio, attend their funerals, Lynch’s position on these officials’ attendance at the funeral of a fallen New York City police officer is an insult to this city’s citizens, who wholeheartedly understand and honor the memory and sacrifice of police officers who die in the line of duty.

Facing the truth is impossible for oppressors, all they have is denial.

I don’t think these cops get the fact that the un-accountable Gravy Train is coming to an end.

Thrown under the bus? No, you put yourselves there.

My 6 year old grandson is pouty than these guys.

Instead of addressing the problem, he creates a huge diversion to distract people. Much easier than solving problems.

Like DeBlasio would even attend the funeral of an officer who gave his life in the line of duty

    • KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker December 13th, 2014 at 4:32 pm

Uh…..then why would the union see a need to circulate the form letter to their cops?
Perhaps your battery is low red eye.

He refuses to plug it in to the recharger because it is connected to a solar panel and not something generating electricity that is destroying the environment. Right-winger have principals too. They are just kinda stupid.

I am pretty sure that Mayor DeBlasio is far more likely than the criminal and right wing hero Cliven Bundy to attend the funeral of a law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty.

As I recall, Bundy and his acolytes were aiming firearms at sworn law enforcement officers. Am I remembering incorrectly? Not according to officers on the scene at the time, despite the denials of the pro-criminal crowd in Nevada.

      http://www.8newsnow.com/story/25478871/bundy-supporter-no-guns-pointed-at-police-or-blm

Metro Police has said the officers feared for their lives on that day because so many of Bundy’s supporters were armed and some pointed weapons at them.

“It’s not a rumor. When we first got out there and made a left to divide I-15, that’s all you saw. You saw kids and women and horses in the backdrop and then men with guns, lying on the ground, in the back of pickup trucks. We’re going, wow, this would never happen in Las Vegas, but it was there. That’s not a rumor. It’s reality and I saw it with my own eyes,” said Sgt. Tom Jenkins, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

      But I have to ask,..
Do you not have something more productive to do with your life?

he might if the officers civil rights were violated ( while off duty )

  9. mea_mark December 13th, 2014 at 4:45 pm

Those officers should entirely pay for their own funerals then and their families should accept no help from the government. If you want autonomy, pay for it.

One more proof point that the “blue wall” is alive and well in our police departments. A massive shake up is needed to stop their further militarization and insularity from the communities they occupy, oops, sorry, protect.

    • olcurmudgeon December 13th, 2014 at 9:10 pm

Tear down every dept and rebuild from scratch

      • tiredoftea December 13th, 2014 at 10:06 pm

No, take the good stuff, and good cops and build from there.

        • whatthe46 December 14th, 2014 at 12:16 am

as long as the good cops are ready to point out the bad cops. they, more than anyone knows exatly who they are.

          • tiredoftea December 14th, 2014 at 12:23 am

That’s not likely to happen fro a while, as we are seeing now.
