Bryan Fischer: Jesus Would Support Torture
[su_right_ad]It’s good to know that we have clear-thinking, rational people on earth who can speak for Jesus and know how HE would deal with every issue that arises.
Fischer argued on his radio program today that the Bible makes certain things permissible during times of war that would not be permissible during times of peace, adding that Jesus is a “warrior” who would probably approve of torture.
“Christianity is not a pacifist religion,” Fischer said. “The God that we serve is described in Exodus 15 as a ‘man of war.’ Now we often think of gentle Jesus, meek and mild, but let’s not forget, according to Romans 19:13, when he comes back … he will be riding a white horse and wearing his own robe, dipped in blood. That is a robe that is worn by a warrior who is inflicting casualties on the foe. So this is gentle Jesus, meek and mild; when we comes back, his robe is going to be dipped in blood because he too is a warrior”:

And the bible condoned slavery and incest too. Good thing we don’t live by the bible, isn’t it?
Suzanne McFly December 16th, 2014 at 9:29 am
And Jesus was betrayed by one of his own and the betrayal continues through these idiotic claims of who they believe their Jesus is.

I guess it’s good to know that Somebody has a direct line to god and is able to pass along god’s thoughts. So what’s he using a couple of tin cans and string?
Roctuna December 16th, 2014 at 7:37 am
christian cans and spiritual string

Isn’t that the god they worship in Chinese churches?

Damn! Almost spit my coffee on my brand new keyboard!

“Christianity is not a pacifist religion” Fisher said. Yet they condemn islam with stories like this and claim their god is superior. Fundamentalism is a strange thing.

Any variety of fundamentalism is intolerant of every other variety of fundamentalism.

So, Jesus takes his orders from Bryan Fischer?
I thought is was Pat Robertson.
William December 16th, 2014 at 8:06 am
Um…no Pat and the Lord are having a little tiff right now.
OldLefty December 16th, 2014 at 8:26 am
Uh, Oh!
Pilotshark December 16th, 2014 at 9:34 am
Gee, is that the devils hook-em horns he is showing there?
or is he just passing gas again, and thinks he is talking in tonuges?
tiredoftea December 16th, 2014 at 12:25 pm
It’s a matrix management kind of thing.
William December 16th, 2014 at 8:02 am
Well yeah. After being beaten bloody, and suffering a crown of thorns driven into his skull, Jesus would be all about torture.
Mainah December 16th, 2014 at 8:32 am
Don’t forget how he had to drag his own cross through the town as the people, who chose Barabus for pardon, beat him.
Larry Schmitt December 16th, 2014 at 8:41 am
That’s how the fraternity hazing thing works isn’t it?
Tommy6860 December 16th, 2014 at 8:14 am
Go figure! Only the fundamentalist wing-nuts can rationalize their divine paragon of love, forgiveness and peace as a proponent of torture. These asshats will use any inane reason they can to make an excuse for their hate.
Mainah December 16th, 2014 at 8:31 am
Jesus wasn’t in Exodus. God, or Yewah, isn’t a man. So are we just skipping those parts, then? Also, the Old Testament were stories of the times and were a precursor to the sequel, the New Testament. That’s where Jesus has come to show people the way by telling them to be loving, forgiving, care for the sick, poor and old. To not worship money or vanity. Why do they skip those parts? What about the part where Jesus says to the manservant to run and tell your master that the rich will enter heaven as surely as a camel passes through the eye of the needle? I notice none of them mention that one. Oh, I could go on and on …
Larry Schmitt December 16th, 2014 at 8:43 am
“…when he comes back … he will be riding a white horse…” So Jesus will be riding Shadowfax?
crc3 December 16th, 2014 at 10:29 am
REALLY??? Maybe Fischer’s “jesus” supports torture…not mine. The REAL Jesus would never condone violence of any type and that definitely includes torture. Jesus himself was tortured and died as a result. This Fischer clown has no clue whatsoever. He made this up only to fit his agenda which is a sin within itself….
ExPFCWintergreen December 16th, 2014 at 11:25 am
“Torture works! Notice how I renounced my claim to be the Son of God?”
Larry Schmitt December 16th, 2014 at 11:54 am
Speaking of renouncing, the Spanish Inquisition (no one expects the Spanish Inquisition) “converted” many Jews by torturing them. I’m sure a good number of these “converts” continued to practice their religion in secret.
Mainah December 16th, 2014 at 12:27 pm
Pol Pot did that but he just killed them after they confessed. Kind of like the Salem Witch trials.
Dwendt44 December 16th, 2014 at 7:02 pm
Not a rare occurrence during the early days of the christian church either. Converting the Pagans to christianity sometimes took the sword to convince.
tiredoftea December 16th, 2014 at 12:26 pm
So, that turn the other cheek thing was to help the torturers?
fahvel December 16th, 2014 at 1:29 pm
what holes do these things crawl out of?
fahvel December 16th, 2014 at 1:31 pm
what does the old old testament have to do with a myth named jesus?
Bunya December 16th, 2014 at 2:10 pm
It just stands to reason that republican Jesus would condone torture. After all, he created the second amendment, and since “thou shalt not kill (except for Muslims, Jews, gays, atheists, and women)” is strictly enforced in the republican bible, the true followers of republican Jesus need to get their rocks off somehow.
Dwendt44 December 16th, 2014 at 7:06 pm
Yewah maybe, jesus not so much.
greenfloyd December 17th, 2014 at 11:19 pm
Here’s a good 2010 article from the Catholics about Warrior Jesus. It clarifies the bibllical military metaphors and reveals just how far off track this Fischer guy is.
