It’s always an “accident” when a child is shot, except it really isn’t.

A 4-year-old Tennessee girl was shot in the face on Sunday night and the gun owning  Grandmother says the girl’s older brother pulled the trigger, but she admits she made the mistake of not putting it away.

[su_center_ad]It’s mistakes like that that result in a child being shot in the face. There are no do-overs.

Rosie Boylan told WREG that she keeps a gun for safety reasons because she lives by herself and doesn’t feel safe.

“I thought it was my Christmas tree,” she explained, “I thought something had blowed it over. I remember yelling what was that!”

That noise was gunfire.

Boylan said her grandsons found the weapon in her bed.

“I got up to go to church and I forgot to put it up,” she recalled. “They came over, and I just forgot.”

She said she never imagined this could happen.

Boylan says the 4-year-old girl had a gun pointed toward her head, and her brother pulled the trigger. The bullet hit her on the side of the face.

Nearby neighbor Terrance Brock said, “I came home from church, and there were police cars and ambulances all over the street.”

“I understand she wants to keep her self and the kids safe but at the same time you have to keep it away from the kids.”

Wait for it.

Boylan told WREG that she lost a daughter to a gun accident years ago, and she added that she’s incredibly thankful she didn’t lose a granddaughter to the same tragedy Sunday night.

Oh, come on!

The family is urging people to put their guns away and get a lock, so they don’t have to go through this family’s living nightmare. After the first “accidental” shooting in the family, one would think she would have already figured that out.

Very sad. Hope the kid will be alright. What a way to spend Christmas.

What is it about lax gun safety idiots? Maybe we should start charging them with negligent homicide like we do drunk drivers when they cause a fatality or criminal negligence of some sort with an injury.

No maybe about it, sign a petition, if you need help finding one let me know.

How about no home insurance unless you get take gun safety course, get a locking gun cabinet, and if an accident happens you get NOTHING but skyrocketing premiums. Since dead kids and grand kids don’t make them keep guns locked up, maybe losing a house or a wad of cash will.

Oh, FFS!! This idiot lost her daughter and she still doesn’t get it? But, hey, she went to church and will no doubt thank god for her grand daughter being alive, so that makes it OK.

Could I say it wasn’t an accident as much as it was negligence?

you would be correct for saying just that

“I got up to go to church and I forgot to put it up,” she recalled. “They came over, and I just forgot.” so wait, she walks around the house with the gun all day? why was it out to begin with? (before she goes to church to pray away the imaginary bad guys) “Boylan said her grandsons found the weapon in her bed” STUPID!!!

Most people that keep a gun by their bed at night, if someone breaks in, and wakes them up from a sound sleep, how many can think clearly enough to remember where the gun is, and be able to shoot the intruder without shooting themselves or a family member? It’s a false sense of security, as they prove time and again.

      • whatthe46 December 18th, 2014 at 11:23 pm

i can see on the night stand or rather in the night stand, but in the bed is just as stupid. there have been accidents where a person has fired the gun in there sleep because they sleep with it under their pillows. apparently this is not the case as it was visable to these babies.

        • allison1050 December 19th, 2014 at 8:33 am

Not even on the night stand with children in the house.

          • whatthe46 December 19th, 2014 at 11:28 am

no no no, you’re right. i’m responding to larry about where they keep them at night when asleep. never keep a gun in the bed sleep or awake.

Always going or coming to church, praying to jeebus and whining about all the gun “accidents”

    • rg9rts December 19th, 2014 at 4:39 am

pum pum pum…..we have a new one WAP TAG skitter skamper

  7. mcalleyboy December 19th, 2014 at 2:46 am

It’s an accident, tragic one for sure, come on Grandma put away your weapons or get a gun belt, I couldn’t imagine dealing with the loss of a grand child, I don’t think I’d want to live. People like this shouldn’t carry a weapon but please it’s not good to generalize and make this an issue for all citizens.

    • rg9rts December 19th, 2014 at 4:38 am

2 children and this dimbulb didn’t learn a thing from the first one

      • mcalleyboy December 19th, 2014 at 7:18 am

There’s people that have very little sympathy for others, nothing bother’s them, they seem indestructible but like this Grandma while she lives to a ripe old age others around her die and she sleeps at night, I don’t get this and I couldn’t live with myself If I let this happen. After the first incident she should have lost her gun rights? Who knows the whole story.

  8. rg9rts December 19th, 2014 at 4:37 am

A new entrant in the NRA shooter of the month award….Granny has to be one of the stupidest people on the planet…she keeps this up,,,she’ll qualify for the Darwin award too. two kids ……

  9. Jake December 19th, 2014 at 7:33 am

OK – these redneck moron gun-owners should be given a choice – you can have guns in the house or children in the house – not both!

  10. Obewon December 19th, 2014 at 7:58 am

She keeps a gun for safety reasons because NRA’s GOP political Terrorists won’t let her know ‘Guns shoot 22-43 times more friends and family than any intruder’-FBI/CDC!

“I thought it was my Christmas tree,” she explained, “I thought something had blowed it over. I remember yelling what was that!” “I got up to go to church and I forgot to put it up.” Who would Jesus shoot? Your grandkids twice???

  11. allison1050 December 19th, 2014 at 8:28 am

Too much inbreeding perhaps accounts for being a little slow on the up take for granny who admits to losing a daughter to an “accident”….yeah right.
