Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore has close personal and financial ties with Michael Peroutka, the neo-Confederate activist and theocrat who has helped develop the view, espoused by Moore in recent interviews and statements, that states must defy federal court rulings in favor of marriage equality since they are in violation of divine law.

Peroutka is a “true Confederate” activist and a former leader of the League of the South , although he quit the neo-Confederate group last year during his successful campaign to win a seat as a Republican on Anne Arundel County, Maryland, county council.

Warren Throckmorton notes, just today announced that on April 14 it will host a celebration of the anniversary of the “execution of the tyrant Abraham Lincoln.”

        I don’t know, they seem to be hell bent on unlosing the Civil War. The “States Right’s” claims are virtually identical (minus the slavery) but the belief their Christian faith is somehow a right to hate and discriminate others is like stepping back into 1860…kinda spooky.

    They celebrate the murder of one of Americas greatest Presidents that was shot by a thug as he sat unarmed in a theatre. Too bad they feel to recognize this pos killed President Lincoln after he led his military into the south to kick their asses.

    The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order issued by Abraham Lincoln. This joker celebrates the murder of the author of the most significant executive order in the history of our republic.

    Hopefully this story will provide some clarity into why I am suspicious of those who claim President Obama’s exeucutive orders are illegal.

    I see he is enjoying his right to assemble without consequence. Funny that he is using it to attack the nation that gives him those rights.
