[su_right_ad]He only wants to talk about the future. That’s nice. But the past got us to where we are now, and it’s not pretty. Bloomberg reports:

“I won’t talk about the past,” Bush said in response to a reporter’s question about his foreign policy speech planned for next week in Chicago. “I’ll talk about the future. If I’m in the process of considering the possibility of running, it’s not about re-litigating anything in the past. It’s about trying to create a set of ideas and principles that will help us move forward.”

Bush also declined to answer a question about how he would combat the Islamic State militant group, saying he’d talk more about foreign policy next week. The answers will help increase anticipation around his talk on Wednesday at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. A governor from 1999 to 2007, Bush is better known for views on domestic issues, such as his advocacy for charter schools and support for easing immigration laws.

Ah, I wanted to ask Jeb if his family had any bad feelings about GWB trashing the US economy and if his family wanted to pay some restitution to American citizens? Darn!

    • Sy Colepath February 15th, 2015 at 7:36 am

      “GWB trashing the US economy”

The Bush crime family didn’t suffer. That’s all that really matters.

  2. Roctuna February 14th, 2015 at 6:10 pm

Maybe he won’t talk about the past, at first, but a lot of other people will. Too many to ignore.

Sadly, majority of voters don’t. That is why we are in this mess of deficit and war. Majority of voters don’t think, they go with the most recent sound bites and political ads.

  6. tiredoftea February 14th, 2015 at 7:47 pm

So, I’m guessing that indicting W for war crimes is out of the question.

  7. burqa February 14th, 2015 at 8:33 pm

Sorry Jeb, but you’re going to have to demonstrate and understanding of how things are, and that includes showing an understanding of how they came to be.
Jeb Bush is not to be held responsible for what his brother did unless he had a role in it.

    • jasperjava February 15th, 2015 at 11:39 am

He had a crucial role in putting his idiot brother in the White House, so anything Dubya did is partly J.E.B.’s fault.

  8. Mike February 14th, 2015 at 8:58 pm

Let’s hold him to his word…he can’t talk about Reagan, Obama, his time as governor, or anything that has already happened…OK Jeb, what cha got…?

  9. CHOCOL8MILK February 14th, 2015 at 11:14 pm

Practical example: Do not eat Ben and Jerry’s every night before bed if you have a mild lactose intolerance.

Doesn’t want to acknowledge his legacy??? How about the economy he ruined and the housing collapse through the lifting of banking regulations?? Just what the US needs another Bush POS

  12. Michael Prilla February 15th, 2015 at 4:25 am

Needless to say I won’t be voting for this total fucking asshole. You shouldn’t either.

    • Boehner-Monkey February 15th, 2015 at 1:49 pm

I like it. Concise yet colorfully illustrative.

  13. William February 15th, 2015 at 9:54 am

    The GOP. Denying history, always.

  14. labman57 February 15th, 2015 at 9:56 am

Jeb will get back to us after skimming through the Cliffs Notes version of “Foreign Policy for Dummies”.

Of course, it’s grossly unfair (/s), and not at all “forward looking” to evaluate JEBush based on his family, but this stuff ((amazing what turns up on the interwebs) a fawning “review” of Nazi collaborator and leader in a plot to overthrow our government in FDR’s day Grandpa Prescott, and a snippet from a brother’s (we know a lot about him) TV appearance) struck me as worth repeating…

    * * *

“He [Prescott Bush] was a unifier, not a divider. And he was of such high integrity [sic] that behind the scenes was where he was at his best. He was a man of great faith. His grandfather was a minister whose faith and integrity were fully ingrained in the Bush family. Prescott always emphasized honesty, charity, fairness and proactive dedication to God, family and country.”

From a review by Susan Kurz.

    * * *

DAVID LETTERMAN: You often say: I’m a uniter, not a divider. What does that mean?

GEORGE W. BUSH: It means when it comes time to sew up your chest cavity, we use stitches as opposed to opening it up. [Boos]

  17. William February 15th, 2015 at 1:09 pm

The question remains. Which idiot will the GOP listen to this time? My guess is the candidate has already been chosen by the Koch bros. Stay tuned kids

If the lack of enthusiasm continues for Bush among GOP donors, and Christie’s numbers continue to drop, they will need someone to come out of nowhere like Bill Clinton did. It would have to be someone with looks and charisma and a pretty decent track record. I don’t think Scott Walker fits those requirements.

If those trends continue with Bush and Christie, I expect a brokered convention with Romney eventually emerging as the nominee on the convention floor. This would explain Stacey Dash’s cryptic yet clueless comment about Romney not being done yet- and how his withdrawal was a chess move.

      • William February 15th, 2015 at 1:40 pm

If they had half a brain they would either.
        A. Take it out and play with it.
        or
B Nominate someone with a lifetime of Govt. service, and the ability to work well with both parties. Like Huntsman.

        • Boehner-Monkey February 15th, 2015 at 1:45 pm

You are so right, Dude, I am a Yellow Dog Democrat at this point, and I would have trouble *not* voting for Huntsman. However, the GOP thinks the White Horse should be a smarmy greaser rather than someone with looks, brains and charisma who has bi-partisan friends. I am ever-incredulous of the GOP’s chronic ability to fumble on the one yard line.

          • William February 15th, 2015 at 2:07 pm

I’m pretty left of center but I recall an interview. Huntsman was asked how he was able to work so well for so many different Presidents. His reply. “I work for a nation not a party”.
Considering his background, I think he is more than qualified.
He isn’t a member of the “I hate the President” club, so the GOP pretends he doesn’t exist.
