Governor Sam Brownback of Kansas signed a bill that allows citizens to carry concealed weapons with no permits and no training needed.

The new law, which kicks in July 1, makes Kansas the sixth state to allow “constitutional carry.” It will allow Kansans 21 and older to carry concealed firearms regardless of whether they have obtained a permit.

Training still will be required for anyone who wants to carry a concealed gun in the 36 states that accept Kansas permits.

Brownback touted the importance of training, explaining that his youngest son took a hunter safety course this past week…

Asked why he did not think training should be required if it is valuable, Brownback said carrying a gun is a constitutional right.

“We’re saying that if you want to do that in this state, then you don’t have to get the permission slip from the government,” Brownback said. “It is a constitutional right, and we’re removing a barrier to that right.”

Brown backside has always been an ignorant pig – someone will die cause of this stupid law and the blood will be on the NRA and pandering brown backside

    • rocker April 3rd, 2015 at 8:30 am

      Silly boi

    • Red Eye Robot April 3rd, 2015 at 10:12 am

More predictions of bloodshed, Like we haven’t heard that for 25 years while the crime rates drop. The reality is that people who legally carry concealed are about 6x less likely to commit murder than the general population. Utah with it’s permitless concealed carry has a homicide rate of 1 murder per 63,829 citizens. New Jersey with some of the strictest gun laws in America and virtually non existent concealed carry has 1 murder per 24,930 citizens. or roughly 2.5x greater. Someone will die because of this law, Likely it will be a criminal intent on harming an armed citizen.

I see you got some new batteries!

      • Shades April 3rd, 2015 at 1:05 pm

Which outlet did you pull that from?

  2. bluejayray April 3rd, 2015 at 11:05 am

Gee, what could possibly go wrong?…
I live in a State that has pretty much NO gun regulations. Surprise surprise, our gun deaths are twice the national average and our everyday, run-of-the-mill gun violence is rampant. Looks like we have some competition now! You go, Kansas!

    • Red Eye Robot April 4th, 2015 at 2:31 pm

Twice the national average? Kansas had 112 murders in 2014, or 1 murder per 26,000 citizens, the US rate is 1 murder per 22,000 citizens.

      • bluejayray April 4th, 2015 at 9:02 pm

I don’t live in Kansas, so it really doesn’t matter. We’re way ahead of them.

    • Beth Corver April 5th, 2015 at 10:49 pm

YES! VERMONT IS A CESSPOOL OF VIOLENCE.

  3. ExPFCWintergreen April 3rd, 2015 at 12:17 pm

So they’ll be removing all training requirements for driver’s licenses next, right? Because LibburTEA

    • Beth Corver April 5th, 2015 at 10:49 pm

Yes, if driving a car were listed in the first 8 amendments.

You need to learn the difference between a Constitutional right and something that requires licensure.

      • ExPFCWintergreen April 6th, 2015 at 12:08 am

There’s nothing in the Constitution that says the right is absolute. Nor is there anything that says licensure can’t be a requirement for exercising it. One does not have an absolute right to free speech — speech is limited in all sorts of ways: on television, on radios, and even in open spaces. There’s absolutely no reason whatsoever — except for the gun-fellating hysteria of Reich-wingers and Ammosexuals — that guns can’t be limited in the same way. None. But we’ll have it your way. Have as many guns as you like. There’s nothing in the Constitution — not one fucking word — about ammunition.

        • Beth Corver May 2nd, 2015 at 12:18 am

There’s not “one fucking word” about a fair trial, either.

You wanna give up on the whole “it has to be specifically mentioned for it to be a right” yet?

My comment was deleted because truth is dangerous to liberals

    • Dwendt44 April 3rd, 2015 at 5:49 pm

As if your comments were anywhere close to the truth.

      • Red Eye Robot April 4th, 2015 at 1:01 am

Good thing you were protected from it. You wouldn’t want to have to make that judgement yourself based on actually seeing it

        • bpollen April 4th, 2015 at 1:17 am

Hahahah… you seem to be operating under delusions of competence!

          • Red Eye Robot April 4th, 2015 at 2:10 pm

I posted a comment refuting an oft heard cliche and a statistic to refute it. But you can’t comment on it because a moderator felt your devotion to liberalism would be too easily swayed by a differing opinion. Your ad hominem attacks not withstanding, You are defending someone keeping you ignorant of the discussion. The long and short of it is you can’t argue facts because they have been censored for your “safety” Long Live Big Brother!

          • Obewon April 4th, 2015 at 2:40 pm

Another Mod deleted your fantasy post devoid of any reality.

As I read it, It was clear you have no idea that 2/3 of all U.S. homicides are caused by the 31% of U.S. Households owning guns. That’s down from the 1970’s 50% gun owner homes.

          • Red Eye Robot April 5th, 2015 at 1:43 am

Please quote my post and point out what was false

          • Obewon April 5th, 2015 at 4:10 am

No. But surely you can link to an unbiased source as proof.

          • Red Eye Robot April 5th, 2015 at 12:57 pm

How can I provide a source if you won’t tell me what you suspect is inaccurate? I made several points.

          • Obewon April 5th, 2015 at 1:08 pm

You admit you posted made up crap having no accurate source.

          • Red Eye Robot April 5th, 2015 at 10:18 pm

“You admit you posted made up crap having no accurate source.” I did nothing of the sort, I asked you to quote to me what you thought was inaccurate. You seem intent on arguing a point you refuse to make. How precisely can you debunk something you refuse to even acknowledge? Are you afraid of what I posted? It’s real simple, Quote my post and debunk it, It was only one paragraph.

          • Obewon April 6th, 2015 at 7:39 pm

My above post refutes you, and validates my updated claim: ‘Red Eye posts made up crap having no accurate source.’ E.g. “You admit you posted made up crap having no accurate source. #1 ” A 2006 investigation by the South…” — Obewon http://disq.us/8mv8bw

Otherwise you would’ve at least tried to link to an impartial source, in a feeble attempt to validate your fables. You remain as always a well debunked dissembler!

And you can’t even remember what you feigned! Lol.

          • Red Eye Robot April 8th, 2015 at 2:04 am

Again I must ask specifically, What did I make up? cite the actual passage. Posting factoids that had nothing to do with my post proves nothing and resolves no issues. Is there a reason you wish to not prove me a liar?

          • Obewon April 8th, 2015 at 8:32 am

Red Eye you realize the highest guns per capitia states have up to double USA’s 12/100,000 average gun deaths per capitia e.g. Alaska’s 21 gun deaths per 100,000, Montana, Wyoming, etc right?

Vs the ‘well regulated’ North East Mass & NY 5.5/100,000 because more guns = more gun deaths

Facts contradict your Robot fantasies: 31% of U.S. households own guns, but cause 2/3 of U.S. Homicides. In 2011 U.S. gun deaths = 31, 163! See John Lott is an easily debunked delusional.

          • Red Eye Robot April 8th, 2015 at 5:53 pm

Just out of curiosity, When will you be addressing the actual substance of my post?

          • Beth Corver April 5th, 2015 at 10:47 pm

Facts are deleted. Simple. End of story. Own a gun? They do not want to hear from you. Want to quote a study supporting your side? Nope, not going to appear here.

          • bpollen April 8th, 2015 at 4:06 am

I can’t argue facts not in evidence. Even YOU understand that. I don’t defend any censorship, and didn’t. To be frank, any post of yours would not dispel any ignorance I might suffer from. And ad hominem attacks is a rather strange way to portray my pointing out the paucity of any useful input from you. I am not in the least surprised by your voiced support for Big Brother, however.

          • Red Eye Robot April 8th, 2015 at 5:49 pm

so without actually seeing the post you can say it was false?

          • bpollen April 9th, 2015 at 2:24 am

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. So, while I can’t categorically say it was false, I would say that the odds are overwhelmingly in favor of … let’s say “inaccuracy.”

          • Red Eye Robot April 9th, 2015 at 4:20 pm

Who asked you to predict the future? I’m asking you to show me what is false in a post from days ago. You can’t do this because someone was so fearful that seeing it you might be emotionally devastated and they censored it. You are applauding someone keeping you ignorant of the details needed to actually form your own judgement. Is this because you feel you need to be protected from words or ideas that differ from yours?

          • bpollen April 10th, 2015 at 4:13 am

OK, see if you can follow along. You said “so without actually seeing the post you can say it was false?” Remember that? It’s up just a couple messages. See, then, immediately after, there is this thing called an answer. I said that I can’t definitively say it’s false, just that the odds are heavily weighted in that direction. Jimmy the Greek and Jean Dixon are totally different. One used hoodoo, the other used math.

          • Red Eye Robot April 10th, 2015 at 4:50 pm

So with no actual evidence you can state the odds are it was false. Did I get the ratio of murders per citizens in Utah and New Jersey wrong?

          • bpollen April 11th, 2015 at 1:33 am

You certainly delight in being deliberately obtuse. Doesn’t really go well with the whining.

          • Red Eye Robot April 11th, 2015 at 2:55 pm

Did I misstate that NewJersey’s homicide rate is nearly 3 times Utah’s and Utah has permitless concealed carry while New Jersey has for all practical purposes no concealed carry?

          • bpollen April 16th, 2015 at 4:02 am

            Snivel…

thinning the herd with “tragic accidents” means losing taxpayers too
please keep your children safe Kansas.

  6. Carla Akins April 3rd, 2015 at 10:01 pm

Meanwhile in Kansas, two schools will be closing early this year due to lack of funding, the expected budget shortfall of an estimated $600 million due July 1. Teachers are fleeing their field within the state in record numbers and young adults are a demographic the state has not seen growth in for two decades. This is nothing other than a cheap stunt to distract and appease his base god and guns voter.

    • Beth Corver April 5th, 2015 at 10:44 pm

You and most folks won’t have any idea, but gun permits are a completely separate issue in point of fact. If he signed a bill to repair the roads, you goofballs would call that a “distraction” too. Look at the polar opposite: Connecticut’s governor criminalized gun possession (even for permit holders) and they are 50th for economic growth in the entire NATION. That’s 50th. As in FIFTIETH. As in there are 50 states and Connecticut reformed their gun laws and they are _still_ dead LAST for economic growth. This whole “distraction” theory goes two ways.

      • Carla Akins April 6th, 2015 at 4:38 am

I’m pretty sure if Brownback signed a bill to repair the roads, the citizens of Kansas would be ecstatic. An actual bill to create job would be exciting, a workable idea to meet the budget that didn’t starve the elderly, poor and disabled would be great. If he stopped bashing teachers, that would thrilling and costs the state nothing. Maybe if he stopped trying to insert his religion into the state government, illegally and then spending tax dollars to defend it that would also be great. The signing of this bill was nothing short of pandering to a knee-jerk segment of his base. It cost nothing and it provided a photo-op. It means nothing and gave the state nothing of substance but a potential problem.

  7. rg9rts April 4th, 2015 at 6:12 am

This makes as much sense as his budgetary approach

  8. Beth Corver April 5th, 2015 at 10:40 pm

Horrifying. Kansas will be just like Vermont has always been, and Vermont is a cesspool of crime! Unbelievable. Vermont’s been Constitutional Carry since the 80’s… and we’ve all seen how that’s turned out. Highest murder rate since… LOL I hope you liberals aren’t still reading. It’s NEVER been a problem in VT. EVER. Period.
