Couple Took Joy Ride With Child On Roof

The Vermont couple is facing criminal charges.
Two Newport residents were cited after someone sent in a picture of a man driving with a woman and a child on the roof of the car on Vermont 14, the Vermont State Police say.
The car was traveling 50-55 mph, police said. The child, whose name was not released, was 5 years old.
Authorities say the event occurred Sunday afternoon.
Nicholas Nobaris, 20, the driver, is accused of grossly negligent operation of a car. Lindsey Perkins, 27, the woman riding on top, is expected to face charges of child endangerment and reckless endangerment, the police say.
