The Lakewood, OH bartender says she was “just joking.” Some sense of humor!

Alissa Maugens, a 23-year-old bartender at West End Tavern, says she was serving her friends on Sunday afternoon and jokingly replaced their names on the receipt with the derogatory term for homosexuals, reports ABC 5 (video interview shown below).

“I understand it’s a very sensitive thing, but it wasn’t meant to be offensive toward anyone,” Maugens told the news station. She added that she apologizes for any hurt her action caused.

“Nothing was meant to be malicious about it,” Andrew Rollings, one of her friends who was served that day, said.

Another airhead who when caught says she ‘didn’t mean it’; ‘It was just a joke’, etc. She meant it right up to the point she got caught. Needs to lose her job and learn a bit about diversity.

Isn’t that the same thing Rush says??

If the story is true as written – that they were her friends, and that the friend said it wasn’t meant maliciously – then the only problem here is that the story went beyond the people it was intended for.

Yet another life – and possibly a business – ruined needlessly because people need their bullying-by-social-media fix rather than stepping back and looking at the bigger picture.

save that kind of homophobic horse chit for someplace other than work

Hope I don’t sound to much like a bully

Yeah, this is a non-story and really shouldn’t have even been posted here.
This is just a click tease.

It’s like walking up to your group of friends and saying “Hey, wassup douchebags?”
While the term “fag(s)” should be discouraged in general, this isn’t like when a receipt is given to a random customer.
At most this deserves a wag of a finger by her friends, but not an entire online campaign to name and shame this girl.

Alan, I’m kind of disappointed in you for posting this story in the first place.
I feel it’s below the integrity I expect from this site.

It was a stupid azz thing for the person to do.. its all over the internet , Ive seen it 2 other places. Its created quite a backlash. Its a human interest story and a hot topic Of course it should be here. Colmes does a great job covering all kinds of different topics.

      • Kick Frenzy May 19th, 2015 at 3:50 pm

Was it stupid to do? Sure.
Is it news? Not really… it wasn’t specifically disparaging any particular person or group.
She was dumb and maybe ignorant, but she wasn’t being cruel.
Someone should let her know using that word like that isn’t really funny, especially printing it out at work.
It’d suffice if one of her friends talked to her for about 2 minutes.
It doesn’t have to be the whole internet though.

Miley Cyrus singing about her dead blowfish is a bigger story than this.

        • Chinese Democracy May 19th, 2015 at 9:04 pm

poor blowfish.. E! is doing an hr retrospective. EVERYTHING is news heh

I have to admit… I did watch the video of her performing that song.
            And it was surprisingly emotional.

Of course, it’s also part of her backyard sessions for the new charity she set up… so, it is significantly more newsworthy than a girl choosing a bigoted term to playfully use with her friends.

    Much ado about nothing.

It seem to me that “homosexual ” a derogatory name as well. No matter what word is used it will never mean anything honorable

    • tracey marie May 19th, 2015 at 12:26 pm

does butthead or teabagger make your kind angry?

      • Chinese Democracy May 19th, 2015 at 9:03 pm

lol…”your kind” term always used by conservatives since they don’t like anyone but clones of themselves

        • tracey marie May 19th, 2015 at 10:12 pm

That is why I use it against them, making them the “other”. Hopefully they will see who is actually doing the dividing in this country. I am sick to death of their threats of violence, their gleefully posted hate and bigotry, I just do not understand how a Black man could send them into such a spin.

    • allison1050 May 19th, 2015 at 12:42 pm

      dumb ass

    • Larry Schmitt May 19th, 2015 at 12:52 pm

Is it “honorable” if someone refers to you as a heterosexual? It’s just something you are. Like your height.

    • Chinese Democracy May 19th, 2015 at 2:53 pm

being gay is just the way some people are born.. it has nothing to do with honorable or dishonorable. Its how you live your life and treat others that determines if you are honorable or dishonorable.

guess what category you fall in?

  6. allison1050 May 19th, 2015 at 12:40 pm

Naww, it wasn’t meant to be offensive…riiight bitch.

  7. Chinese Democracy May 19th, 2015 at 1:35 pm

she should have known evereything you do is going to end up on tumblr or snapchat heh..

even if it was among friends .. it does indicate that she has a problem with gays. This is a learning moment for her. She will probably find another job
