A Des Moines police officer fired her service weapon through the rolled-up window of her patrol car on Tuesday night, fatally shooting an unarmed man who she said “walked with a purpose” toward the squad car. The Des Moines Register reports: Ryan Keith Bolinger, 28, of West Des Moines, died at the scene from a single…

homocide lain and simple – sad that nothing that the american right wing will get them popped since they cannot do anything with purpose.

either i’m supper happy, or a little bit off. i didn’t get your post.

be happy – I mean that no repugs can even fart with purpose so them getting popped is near impossible.
whatthe46 June 12th, 2015 at 2:18 am
he had the audacity to walk in a pace, to walk with a purpose. and she had the right to shoot through her car window, and possibly injuring herself w/ said shattered glass. instead of stepping on the gas. she had every right to protect herself from another unarmed citizen, because… ok, i’ll admit, i don’t know.
thinkingwomanmillstone June 12th, 2015 at 8:16 am
Translation: He was in shooting range of the officer, so she was entitled to kill him.
labman57 June 12th, 2015 at 10:40 am
“Plausible threat” used to mean being confronted by someone brandishing a weapon.
Now police will gun you down simply because they don’t like the expression on your face, or the style of your clothes, … or the manner of your stride.
cookietester June 12th, 2015 at 11:45 am
Sooo – in Iowa, that oh-so-important early caucus and primary state, “walking with a purpose” get you a de facto death sentence. Yet I’m sure that all those voters walking with a purpose to caucus for Huckabee or Cruz have nothing to worry about.
JMax June 12th, 2015 at 11:53 am
The officer was unable to roll down her window and order the man to halt and put his hands up?
Bunya June 12th, 2015 at 1:51 pm
Why even bother getting out of your car? Just shoot somebody, anybody, through the window. I wonder if the “I felt my life was in danger” excuse will hold up in court.

I think this is a good thing for Hillary because it shows that just like men, women in America are perfectly capable of murdering the innocent. She’ll continue Obama’s policies in the middle east with gusto
OldLefty June 12th, 2015 at 5:37 pm
She’ll continue Obama’s policies in the middle east with gusto
______
Let’s hope so.
Outside of just washing our hands of the entire region, Obama’s policies are the best we’ve seen so far.
johnnybizzoy June 13th, 2015 at 3:53 am
Iran practically has nuclear weapons
Israel continues to massacre Palestine at will
3 million people have fled the violence in Syria, another 6 million are displaced within, and there is sectarian warfare in every corner of that country
Libya a totally failed state ruled by al-Qaida and ISIS-backed militias. Warfare in every city. The Tunisian embassy was just overrun by armed militia. Tens of thousands fleeing every month for Europe, hundreds of them drowning along the way.
Nigeria, Somalia, Oman – Africa pretty much going the way of Syria
Egypt brutally cracking down on formerly democratically elected political party. Arresting the leadership, executing them, about ten thousand have been murdered in the street by government thug police state
Iraq experiencing sectarian warfare and terrorism, half of the country taken over or under siege from ISIS
Saudi Arabia having it’s oil wells attacked (shhh!)
Yemen a staging ground for a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran. US dropping bombs from the sky.
YEP, Obama is doing a great job DESTROYING EVERY ISLAMIC COUNTRY. And you hope Hillary does what? Give them all Ebola?
OldLefty June 13th, 2015 at 8:15 am
Basically, it is like looking at a patient who became a heavy smoker and beer drinker and gained 500 lbs over 40 years, and who just had a massive heart attack. Now you are complaining about the doctor, pointing out that he is short of breath walking from his chair to the TV, has arthritic knees, COPD, diabetes, etc, therefore the doc’s regime of a few years, (when it will take a decade), is not working.
~ Iran practically has nuclear weapons
_______
No they don’t, and most progress towards gaining one was made under the Bush administration and sanctions.
The Right’s opposition to the agreement would assure that they acquire them. (remember that the lesson learned from the war on Iraq was that ‘if you have don’t have nuclear weapons, you will be attacked, so nuke up, everybody!!’)
~Israel continues to massacre Palestine at will
________
That has been going on forever, and is unlikely to change under anyone unless they break ties with Israel. Look what happened when Rand Paul so much as HINTED at cutting aid to Israel.
~3 million people have fled the violence in Syria, another 6 million are displaced within, and there is sectarian warfare in every corner of that country
______
More than that fled Iraq by 2008, and they fled TO Syria. That’s why those like Obama opposed the war on Iraq. What did you THINK would happen???
We are seeing major upheavals and transitions after 60 years of bad policies in the region, from imperialism to dictators controlled by other nations. Meanwhile, Obama got Assad to give up his weapons without firing a shot.
~Libya?
______
Same as above. (Do you know how WE were thought of by other people in the world?) hint; an economy based on slavery, The Baltimore bank riot, Bloody Monday, the Ludlow Massacre, 600,000 dead in a civil war, the Tulsa race riots, Kent State…. and you want the Middle East to be solved in a few years?
~ Al Qaeda and ISIS??
______
Again, al Qaeda created by Reagan’s feckless short sited policies, while EVERYONE knew that the war on Iraq would create that mess, especially after the millions of Sunni refugees fled into Syria.* (see YOUR statement above pertaining those running OUT of Syria)
~ Nigeria, Somalia, Oman…
_______
Same as above.
~Egypt brutally cracking …
_______
Again..THAT is the price for decades of colonization, supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in the 50’s and 60’s over Nasser, and propping up dictators after that.
Why would you think it can be solved in a few years?
~Iraq experiencing sectarian warfare
______
Again, over and over again, we, including Obama TOLD you this would happen when you destabilized the region, and then again when our “Viceroy”, L Paul Bremer disbanded the Baath Party , which was basically everybody who know how to run the country. (many Sunnis, even those who WERE secular, throw in with ISIS because they fear Shia rule.
We also told you that you would turn the country over to the loving arms of Iraq.
~ Saudi Arabia having it’s oil wells attacked (shhh!)
_____
You mean the policies and dogma that has been enforced and exported by the Saudis for decades while the Brits, our oil industry and the Bush’s propped them up and looked the other way while they supported terrorism all over the world have come back to bite them on the butt after BushCheney destabilized the region?? Say it ain’t so!!
~ Yemen a staging ground for a proxy war between Saudi Arabia and Iran. US dropping bombs from the sky.
_______
With Obama, we actually see some of the Arabs actually stepping up to the plate and fighting their OWN battles, (although not enough).
We are seeing a major civil war in Islam, right now on a macro level and minor civil wars all over the region on a micro level which is the result of decades of bad policies, oil, and most recently technology. I suspect that this region will take several decades to sort itself out.
~ Ebola???
The only screw up there was in an under-regulated red state.
Short of just washing our hands of the entire region, can you point to any foreign policy that would be better in any of the foreign affairs you mentioned above??
craig7120 June 13th, 2015 at 8:58 am
Yup
After that beat down, the simplest agreement seemed appropriate
Well said young lady
OldLefty June 13th, 2015 at 9:02 am
Thank you craig.
I just don’t know what they expect.
craig7120 June 13th, 2015 at 10:08 am
I appreciated the “non snub” our President gave the Iraqi PM, sometimes adults need to send a not so subtle message to others.
As long as we supply the Middle East with guns and targets, it will remain a shooting gallery.
The Saudi royals must be nervous, it’s a coming.
OldLefty June 13th, 2015 at 10:13 am
Especially since ISIS claims that THEIR philosophy is basically; “Yeah, what the Saudis preach….. except for the part about the “RULING” royal family.”
Cue Scooby Doo, ” RUH ROH!”
And yet, as much as we hate them, what if they fall?
craig7120 June 13th, 2015 at 12:53 pm
Fall they will. A craving arises when the body is being starved of certain essentials. Oppression has been the main course for centuries in the Middle East, isil will not survive, it’s just a gorging and a response to what type of government the populace has been fed.
That whole region is being transformed, we cannot corral this uprising, what we can do is stand by because as much as they hate their leaders, they hate us more for backing the oppression.
My worries are based on chances
1 in 3 Americans will die of heart disease
1 in million Americans will die from an Islamic terrorist, I act accordingly.
Be safe darling and eat healthy
🙂

JohnnyBizzoy: “Iran practically has nuclear weapons”
OldLefty: “No they don’t…”
“No they don’t, and most progress towards gaining one was made under the

Yes they do. And A LOT of progress has been made in the last 6+ years
1.7 months away
http://www.iranwatch.org/our-publications/articles-reports/irans-nuclear-timetable
DAVID ALBRIGHT: “Iran has been greatly increasing its nuclear capability

Johnnybizzoy: “3 million people have fled the violence in Syria, another 6
million are displaced within, and there is sectarian warfare in every corner of
that country”
OldLefty: More than that fled Iraq by 2008
So the benchmark for success in your mind, is that as long as it
wasn’t worse than the worst refugee crisis in modern middle eastern history,
then Obama and Hillary can call that a success story? Is that right?
—
OldLefty: “Meanwhile, Obama got Assad to give up his weapons without
firing a shot.”
Heck of a job he did there, too
Syria disclosed that it
maintained a ricin
chemical weapons program, which the Syrian government claims has fallen in to
the hands of Syrian Opposition forces in the east of the
country.[3] The following month Syria, further disclosed that it had 4 more previously
hidden chemical weapons production sites.[4] The Israeli intelligence community
believes the Syrian government retains several tons of chemical weapons.[5]
The Syria file at the International Atomic Energy Agency
(IAEA) remains open, amid Syria’s failure to respond to the IAEA’s questions
about a facility, destroyed in 2007 by Israel, that the IAEA
concluded was “very likely” a nuclear reactor, including the
whereabouts the reactor’s nuclear fuel.[6] In January 2015, it was reported that the Syrian government is suspected
to be building a nuclear plant in Al-Qusayr,
Syria, allegedly with the aim of developing nuclear weapons.[7]

Old Lefty: “Libya? Same as above.”
Oh yea, Libya is another success story. Failed state, sectarian warfare,
ambassador murdered (Hillary: “what difference does it make???”). ISIS running
amok…and that’s just for starters.
—
Again, al Qaeda created by Reagan’s feckless short sited policies
It’s too bad whatever
Reagan did 30 years ago can’t somehow be rectified by the President of the
United States, given 6 and a half years to try. Maybe republicans are right,
and Reagan really was the second coming.
—
Old Lefty: Short
of just washing our hands of the entire region, can you point to any foreign
policy that would be better in any of the foreign affairs you mentioned above??
Yes I can.
1) Don’t
support Muslim radicals in Libya. Ghaddafi would have put that rebellion down
in 2 months. What we did has led to the inhuman devastation of millions of
lives just in that one sparsely populated country.
2) Don’t
support Muslim radicals in Syria. Assad would have put that rebellion down in 6
to 12 months with Russian and Iranian help. All we did was exacerbate the
violence and increase the bloodshed by 20 fold. Not to mention our support for
the radicals is what gave ISIS its initial cache of weapons, funding, training,
and cover. At one point I think Obama wanted to be their air force, if I’m not
mistaken.
3) DO
support Muslim moderates who were democratically elected in Egypt. Instead we
got with our pro-Israel military buddies and let them illegally depose a
democratically elected President, and then go on killing spree in the streets
and in the “court rooms.” What we have supported there is a shameful perversion
of human rights. It is the complete opposite of human rights OR freedom. And
what’s worse, our newly re-negotiated contract with that Nazi thug style
government seems to include a build up to a military attack on Libya, the
country we just pushed the “delete” button on. We are fomenting war and death
everywhere – or I should say, Obama and Hillary are fomenting war and death
everywhere in Muslim lands.
4) DO
support Iraqi government. We should have left more US and international troops
behind to guard the bases that we spent so much time money and blood to
establish there. We could have been, and still could be arming the Kurds, or
even THE CHRISTIANS – for God’s sake. Even the UN admits that Christians are
the most persecuted and murdered group of people in the world right now. We should
be ARMING THEM.
Look – your general stance on these issues seems to be that
Reagan and GWB are responsible for decades of strife in these regions, so
therefore we should just hang back and let them kill each other until they get
it out of their system. And I’m inclined to agree with you – BUT THAT IS NOT
WHAT OBAMA AND HILLARY HAVE DONE AT ALL. Instead, what they have done is
intercede wherever the balance of power is too one-sided, and provided limited
support and funding and weapons and assistance to whichever side is less
powerful. But they haven’t done so in a way that would lead to a victory for anybody
– but rather – it seems their strategy is to exacerbate the conflicts and
prolong the violence until it spins out of control for everybody everywhere.
And on top of all this, they have mid-wifed into existence ISIS, thus
guaranteeing the Pentagon hundreds of billions, if not trillions of tax payer
dollars over the next several years, so that we can go fight those rascals once
they start cutting off oil choke points or laying siege to Baghdad and Riyadh. Face
it – Obama and Hillary are war-mongers and genocidal maniacs on par with GWB. Accept
it.

______
What are you talking about????
Reagan gave them weapons, taught them that they could bring down a super power, and all the while, Pakistani President Benazir Bhutto, telling George H. W. Bush, “You are creating a jihadi Frankenstein.”, then we were in Saudi bases for the Gulf war, incurring the wrath of bin Ladin who , while hoping to relive the “glory years ” was telling his followers;
“We have seen in the last decade the decline of the American government and the weakness of the American soldier. He is ready to wage cold wars but unprepared to fight hot wars. This was proven in Beirut when the Marines fled after two explosions, showing they can run in less than twenty-four hours.”
– Osama bin Ladin May 28, 1998
THEN we made him i bigger hero when we followed his script when we invaded an oil rich Arab nation.
And you expect Obama to fix it in 6 years? Again, it is like the 500 pound person.

We didn’t
We enforce a UN mandated no fly zone with NATO.

We didn’t, but Obama’s opponents wanted to.
ISIS came from the Sunnis who were ethnically cleansed from the Iraq war.

We did. If you expect them to develop a jeffersonian democracy overnight, you are crazy.
What we did before the revolution was to support a brutal dictator.
What we have supported there is a shameful perversion

So that they could have been hanged in the public square?
That was never an option.
This month, American officials pressed the Iraqi leadership to meet again at President Talabani’s compound to discuss the issue. This time the Americans asked them to take a stand on the question of immunity for troops, hoping to
remove what had always been the most difficult hurdle. But they misread Iraqi politics and the Iraqi public. Still burdened by the traumas of this and previous wars, and having watched the revolutions sweeping their region, the Iraqis were unwilling to accept anything that infringed on their sovereignty.
