I am so sad for this little boy. “Callen left the stand”…for heaven’s sake, he was 9! Don’t blame it on the child, why wasn’t anyone aware of where he was?

Whenever someone leaves the stand, they should be wearing blaze orange and a “hold fire” command should be issued to all hunters in the vicinity. We DO have earpieces for two-way radios, these days, which will put all communications right into your ear, loud and clear.
A young child should be paired up with an adult “monitor”, who would keep a constant watch on the child, for his/her safety.
This “accident” was entirely avoidable.

It’s a real tragedy that these ammosexuals are allowed to be around children at all. It’s worse that they have biological children to carry on the family tradition…if any survive. Poor little guy. I hope the grandfather and parents have not a moment of peace for the rest of their useless lives. So anxious to kill a literal sitting duck (pheasant) that you lose awareness of where your child is before you shoot. SMH.

A controlled pheasant release is still a “canned” hunt. Not really hunting, just killing. Tame caged birds released in front of a bunch of rich shits that are too lazy to do the field work.
This was a fail on the parts of the operator/grandfather and the parents by taking lightly the dangers of this kind of activity, especially with children.
I would consider this before I would choose this particular “hunting” ranch.

There are “accidents” and then there are idiots with guns…like those in this story. Sorry, but this was no “accident” It was a train wreck waiting to happen – predictably & clearly!
