It was over gay marriage.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott got a dose of Gotham hospitality Tuesday night when a man approached him and told him to “go to hell” over his opposition to same-sex marriage.

Abbott had been in New York reprising his predecessor’s gig of touting Texas as a low-tax business haven, something that hasn’t gone down too well with New Yorkers in the past. While waiting for his departure flight in JFK, a man approached, shook his hand, then yelled “I hope you go to hell over your stance on same-sex marriage.”

The man was initially scheduled for Abbott’s plane, but was switched to a different flight after he yelled “I look forward to seeing you on the plane” as Abbott’s security backed him away.
