Ted Cruz: Capt. Kirk A Republican; Shatner: ‘That’s Silly’

Ted Cruz wants you to believe that Star Trek’s Captain Kirk is a Republican. Upon hearing this, William Shatner responded.
After talking about his love for characters like Han Solo and Spider-Man, Cruz said he absolutely prefers Captain James T. Kirk to CaptainJean-Luc Picard.
Cruz argued that Kirk was a “complete captain” with both heart and mind, but in The Next Generation, “Picard was Kirk’s rational side, andWilliam Riker was his passionate site.”
And yes, he continued:
The original Star Trek was grittier. Kirk is working class; Picard is an aristocrat. Kirk is a passionate fighter for justice; Picard is a cerebral philosopher.
Star Trek wasn't political. I'm not political; I can't even vote in the US. So to put a geocentric label on interstellar characters is silly
