It’s ‘Darren Wilson Day’ On Shooting Anniversary

On the anniversary of the death of Michael Brown, a Missouri police organization has declared “Darren Wilson Day” reports FreakOutNation.
A Facebook page of a Missouri police union on Sunday announced that the one-year anniversary of the shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown to be “Darren Wilson Day,” after the white police officer who killed him, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The post referred to Wilson as “an innocent, but persecuted, officer.”
The post went on to say that Wilson was innocent because of “the fact that he was thoroughly investigated… and found he did NOTHING wrong,”
About 20 protesters gathered at noon in front of the Columbia Police Department headquarter after the post was made.
“I found the post offensive, and I thought I needed to stand with the community and say what the police department thinks about it,” Police Chief Ken Burton said at the protest. “It was insensitive at best, and provocative at worst.”
Columbia Mayor Robert McDavid weighed in with his own Facebook post, calling the police association post as “insensitive and divisive.”
