County asks Trump campaign to remove photo with its police

Allegheny County, PA officials have asked the Trump campaign to stop using a photo of the candidate with its police.
Headlined “Make America Safe Again,” the email begins with a swipe at “how weak the leadership is in our country,” and then tells supporters about the Trump campaign’s recent campaign activities. The email features photos from the campaign trail — starting with an image of Mr. Trump surrounded by nearly a dozen local public safety workers, including several Allegheny County Police, smiling for the camera. The image was taken during Mr. Trump’s weekend stop at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Coleman McDonough, the department’s newly appointed superintendent, said the photo should not have appeared in the email.
… Superintendent McDonough wrote that county policy forbids police from “jeopardiz[ing] the impartiality of Allegheny County Police by campaigning, representing him or herself as an officer, off or on duty, or while in uniform. … At no time was there a request to use [the photo] in any campaign materials, or a disclaimer that photos may be used in any manner.”
