Italian prosecutors have opened an inquiry into the death of 32-year-old Valentina Milluzzo.

Her family have said the doctor treating her refused to abort the foetuses due to his beliefs, but Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania has rejected the claims…

The family’s lawyer said one of the unborn twins was suffering a breathing complication andĀ alleges the gynaecologist refused to abort the foetuses in order to save the mother, according to the BBC.

‘As long as it’s alive, I will not intervene,’ the lawyer said, quoting the doctor.

Hours later, they were both stillborn, according to the lawyer.

Having lost her babies, the mother-to-be’s condition dropped again overnight and she died on October 16.
