Republican Illinois congressman falsely claims if you vote early and change your mind you can vote again on election day

Illinois Congressman John Shimkus joined KMOX’s Charlie Brennan Monday to remind Illinois voters that, if they vote early, they can change their mind as late as Election Day.
“If you want to change your vote, you can show up on Election Day because those ballots are taken to your precinct and you can invalidate your early voting and then vote on Election Day,” Shimkus said.
But that’s not true.
St. Clair County Clerk Tom Holbrook says processed votes cannot change. Once someone casts their vote, they’re done.
Votes can’t be changed once it “has been processed, that is they went to an early voting site, voted on a machine or if they’ve returned their ballot to us through the mail and went through the standards,” Holbrook says.
