Is WH Chief of Staff John Kelly about to quit?
The media and Beltway are abuzz with American politics’ favorite parlor game, “Who’s Escaping the Trump Insane Asylum Next?”
The fun began yesterday when Bloomberg reporter Jennifer Jacobs tweeted:
Gen. Kelly was originally going to be on AF1 to Vegas with Trump today but was pulled off flight, I’m told.
WH not answering Qs about it.— Jennifer Jacobs (@JenniferJJacobs) October 4, 2017
Shortly thereafter, top Democratic campaign operative Scott Dworkin tweeted:
I’ve heard from three people from different circles on the Hill that this may be John Kelly’s last week as Trump’s Chief of Staff. #AMJoy https://t.co/T9AGHeGR9y

In the wee small hours of this morning (East Coast time), elite ethics attorney Sarah Smith tweeted:
Just heard from good source John Kelly has ALREADY resigned & announcement being held for Friday evening. Can’t confirm by 2nd source though

That tweet landed shortly after Bananas Media… er, Pajamas Media writer Michael van der Galien posted a brief article titled “Report: General Kelly ‘Pulled Off’ Air Force One Flight to Las Vegas, May Resign This Week“.
As a rule, most White House press offices issue the really bad news after 5pm on Friday, and the Trump regime has been particularly adept at avoiding the traditional news cycle.
We will caution you that the above tweets remain unconfirmed and constitute rumors, but again we have to quote a relevant line from the film version of Barbarians at the Gate: “A rumor is just a premature fact.”
